Node Groups
🔒 Premium Feature
Node Groups provide a more granular and flexible approach to managing backend groups compared to the traditional single default group.
WARNING
Node Groups are only recommended for advanced users who have a deep understanding of backend groups and their configurations.
How Node Groups Work
Location-Based Selection: Instead of using a single default group for all players, the group used is determined by the player's location.
Example: If a player joins the Frankfurt server, the backend group associated with Frankfurt's designated node group will be used.
Behavior without Node Group: If the node group is not associated with any of the backend groups the player is joining, it behaves as if no default backend group is defined.
Benefits of Node Groups
- Improved DDoS Mitigation: By isolating traffic based on player location, Node Groups can help to better mitigate DDoS attacks that target specific regions.
- Enhanced Performance: Directing players to backend groups optimized for their location can improve latency and overall performance.
- Increased Flexibility: Node Groups offer greater flexibility in managing backend groups and adapting to changing traffic patterns.
Implementation Considerations
- Configuration: Carefully configure the mapping between locations and their corresponding node groups.
- Monitoring: Continuously monitor the performance and effectiveness of Node Groups to ensure optimal DDoS protection.
Conclusion
Node Groups provide a valuable enhancement to our DDoS protection system by enabling more targeted and efficient traffic management. By leveraging location-based routing and granular control over backend groups, Node Groups can significantly improve the resilience and performance of our services.
